In a significant financial update, Trump Media & Technology Group, the entity behind Truth Social, disclosed a substantial $238 million loss for the second quarter. This downturn comes as the company re-centers its efforts on the social media landscape, following a period of diversification into cryptocurrency and other business pursuits.
Despite the hefty loss, the company reported $1.7 million in revenue for the quarter, a figure that more than doubled compared to the same period last year. Kevin McGurn, the newly appointed CEO, emphasized the company’s renewed commitment to its primary social media operations. Alongside this focus, Trump Media intends to continue with select initiatives, such as its forthcoming merger with TAE Technologies, a company known for its work in nuclear fusion.
As part of its strategic moves, Trump Media has rolled out the Truth API, a subscription-based service designed to offer financial firms early access to posts made by Donald Trump and other notable figures on Truth Social. The service is priced between $60,000 and $100,000 monthly and has already secured 10 clients, primarily consisting of high-frequency trading companies.
Financially, at the quarter’s conclusion, Trump Media maintained over $400 million in cash and short-term investments. Additionally, it held approximately $1.2 billion in bitcoin and related assets. The company is also managing about $1 billion in debt, structured as convertible notes due to mature in 2028.
