LG Innotek, TDK Collaboration to Boost Robotics Sensor Market Growth

by admin477351

In a strategic move to advance the development of robotics and physical artificial intelligence applications, LG Innotek has entered into a partnership with Japan’s TDK. This collaboration aims to leverage LG Innotek’s strengths in optical and precision engineering alongside TDK’s cutting-edge sensor technology. The partnership underscores a commitment to innovation within the rapidly expanding field of AI and robotics.

One of the initial outcomes of this collaboration will be the creation of a vision sensing module equipped with an inertial sensor, expected to be launched in 2027. This state-of-the-art system is designed to integrate visual, motion, direction, and sound data. The goal is to enhance the ability of robots to interpret and interact with their environments more effectively, while also minimizing the image distortion that often occurs during movement. This innovation represents a significant step forward in the way robots perceive and process their surroundings.

In addition to vision sensing, the two companies are working on a tactile sensing module, which is set to emulate the function of human skin. This module will enable robots to detect touch and pressure across various parts of their bodies, including hands and arms. The tactile sensing technology is also slated for completion in 2027, promising to broaden the scope of robotic capabilities in terms of physical interaction with their environments.

LG Innotek anticipates that this partnership with TDK will bolster its position within the robotics industry. By diversifying its AI sensing technology portfolio, which already includes a range of products such as cameras, lidar, radar, and tactile sensors, the company aims to meet the growing demand for sophisticated robotic systems. This collaboration is poised to not only enhance LG Innotek’s market presence but also to drive forward the development of intelligent robotic solutions.
