The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has mandated inspections for Boeing 737 Max jets to check for potential cracks in a key structural part of the fuselage. This directive impacts around 471 aircraft, with inspections set to commence in September. The focus of these checks is on the bear strap, a structural element that reinforces the fuselage around the exit doors. This issue has previously been identified in older Boeing 737 Next Generation models, leading to similar inspections of those planes.
While no cracks have been detected in the 737 Max models to date, the FAA has noted that the aircraft shares a similar design and manufacturing process, which may lead to the development of the same structural concerns.
