July Sees 28.8% Rise in Arab Stock Trading Amid Lower Transaction Values

by admin477351

In July, Arab stock markets witnessed a notable surge in trading activity, marked by a 28.82% increase in the volume of shares traded compared to the previous month. This uptick brought the total trading volume to 261.86 billion shares from June’s 203.27 billion. The Iraq Stock Exchange played a key role in this spike, closely followed by increased activity in Egypt. Despite this heightened trading volume, the overall value of transactions saw a downturn, dropping 16.82% to $90.24 billion from June’s $108.48 billion. This decline was evident across several major markets including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait.

The performance of regional stock markets in July presented a mixed picture. Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out among its peers, recording an impressive 5.85% gain over the month. Other exchanges in the region also saw some positive movement, although the performance varied significantly across different markets. This diversity in outcomes underscores the complexity and varied nature of the Arab stock markets during this period.

Despite fluctuations in transaction values, the overall market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges demonstrated resilience, showing a slight increase of 0.06% to approximately $4.31 trillion. This stability in market capitalization suggests that while trading values may have dipped, the fundamental health of the markets remained largely intact.

The figures from July highlight a dynamic period for Arab markets, where increased trading activity was juxtaposed with declining transaction values and a patchwork of performances across different exchanges. Such developments reflect the evolving nature of these markets as they navigate various economic influences and investor sentiments.
